Three Things To Never Do If You Have Dry Skin

Dry skin is one of the most common skin types and can affect people of any age. Dry skin is often characterized by lack of hydration in the skin which leads to flakes or rough and red spots on the face.

Living with dry skin can be very manageable and easy to deal with if you know what triggers your skin and how to avoid it. If you suffer from dry skin, here are three things you want to avoid at all costs in your daily routine.

Don’t Cleanse Twice A Day

clean skin Skin types that are drier have a tendency to dry out even more if they’re over-cleansed. With dry skin, you want to try and limit cleansing to once a day and we highly recommend washing at night.

This allows you to remove makeup and dirt from the day and let your skin balance it’s natural oils while you sleep. Also, make sure to avoid foaming cleansers at all costs as they dry out the skin much more than an oil-based cleanser like our Olive Oil Cleanser.

Don’t Wear Heavy Foundation

rub to hard Makeup is a great tool to help you look and feel your best on days when your skin won’t cooperate. While using makeup to enhance your looks isn’t harming your dry skin, heavy makeup can actually make your dry skin look and feel worse.

Skip the foundation and find a great tinted moisturizer or BB cream that enhances your skin tone and provides ample moisture at the same time. Make sure to also avoid powder products that can cake into fine lines and draw attention to flaky skin.

Don’t Expose Skin To Extreme Heat

clean skin While in the winter months it may seem like a great idea to have a long hot shower, it’s actually harming your skin and make it drier than it should be.

When showering or washing your face, avoid hot water at all costs. Instead, opt for using a washcloth with luke-warm water to remove makeup or rinse off your cleanser.

Lukewarm water will be less extreme on your skin and instead of shocking it with unexpected heat, it will keep your skin more balanced and your moisture levels even. If you find that your skin is dry even after a warm shower, apply your Repair & Release Cream directly after your shower to provide your skin some extra hydration.
