wrinkles, skincare tips, antiaging tips, coconut oil, natural skincare ingredients, benefits of coconut oilWhen your skin becomes inflamed, it leads to the destruction of your skin’s collagen and elastin. These two proteins are responsible for keeping your skin firm and smooth, meaning that a loss of these will quickly lead to fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin.

Coconut oil helps your skin by correcting your skin tissue and boosts the production of collagen and elastin in your skin. Because of it’s milky, soft texture, it absorbs deep into pores to reverse wrinkles and lines. Applying your Repair & Release Cream, which is packed with coconut oil, will neutralize any free radicals in your skin and protect your cells from damage that leads to aging.

It Nourishes Your Skin

Nourished skin always shows fewer signs of wrinkles, sun damage and sagging which will not only have your skin looking great, but will have you feeling confident!

Using coconut oil will also help restructure the matrix of your skin and promote softer and more supple skin from head to toe. While using it on your face as an ingredient in our Repair & Release Cream, you can also slather it on from head to toe to nourish dry legs, hands or feet.

It Repairs Previous Skin Damage

One of our favorite DIY scrubs with sugar or salt is to mix it with a few drops of lemon juice, which will help clarify the skin, and then add some honey which will nourish and brighten the skin while the sugar and salt get to work exfoliating.

Natural Isn’t Always Safe… These Are The Ingredients to Avoid.

When you hear the word “natural” in regards to a product, it’s often assumed to be safe and harmless. After all, how could something dangerous come from nature? The reality is there are lots of unsafe ingredients that you’re using in your daily routine that are natural but still very harmful for your skin and body.

To help keep you safe and educated, we’ve listed a few of the most harmful “natural ingredients” that can be found in common self-care products and break down why they’re awful for your skin.

Peppermint

peppermint, bad natural ingredients, natural ingredients for skincare, bad skincare ingredientsPeppermint can be added to products as an essential oil and is generally used to mask an unpleasant scent with a light, minty one that is more desirable to use. Sadly, adding peppermint may make your products smell great but it’s going to make your skin a mess!

Peppermint can irritate the skin, especially if you’ve got a sensitive skin type. You can expect redness, itchy skin and even a rash if your dermis doesn’t agree with powerful peppermint. To avoid triggering skin sensitivity, stay away from this ingredient.

Walnut

peppermint, bad natural ingredients, natural ingredients for skincare, bad skincare ingredients, walnutsWalnuts are a tasty treat but you’ll want to steer clear of using them on your skin, and especially your face. Since banning plastic beads in exfoliators, many brands have looked to Walnut to provide an abrasive exfoliation from a natural source.

The problem is, walnuts can actually cause tiny tears in our skin leading to dryness, flakey skin, and even broken capillaries all over your face so to avoid damage, stick with a daily oil cleanser and only exfoliate once a month. Walnuts are simply too abrasive on the skin and will cause more wrinkles and skin distress in the long run.

Lemon

lemons, bad skincare ingredients, natural ingredients to avoid, natural skincareLemon is one of the most dangerous natural ingredients to put on your skin because it can cause permanent damage to your face. Lemon is highly acidic and can alter the pH levels of your face. If you suffer from skin conditions, lemon is likely to make it worse.

Side effects from putting lemon on your skin can include skin irritation, hyperpigmentation, and sensitivity to the sun. The worst and most serious side effect of lemon juice is a chemical burn which can happen simply by putting undiluted lemon directly on the skin. It will leave skin feeling so dry and damaged, you’ll be slathering on Repair & Release Cream just to get your skin back to normal.

SKINCARE, ANTI-AGING, APPLE CIDER VINEGAR,

Imagine a common kitchen ingredient that can do wonders for your skin’s brightness, texture, and health. Now walk to your fridge, grab your Apple Cider Vinegar, and get to know it better because it just became your best skincare friend.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is so common, you can find it in most kitchens and almost any grocery store. It has tons of different uses but one of the most surprising might be how many different benefits it has for your skin!

Just dilute some ACV with water in a bowl and use a cotton pad to rub it on your face like a toner. Here are just a few of the skin-related problems that a homemade ACV toner can help you solve…

Wrinkles

apple cider vinegar, wrinkles, anti-aging, diy skincareAs we age our skin naturally loses it’s elasticity and wrinkles and sagging begin to form all over the face. ACV can be used in skin care as a toner, face wash, and even a spot treatment for problem areas.

ACV works to fight wrinkles by keeping the pH levels in your skin at the right levels and keeping your face hydrated. When skin is balanced and nourished, wrinkles appear less visible. It will also help tighten skin and pores, reducing how deep your wrinkles are.

Breakouts

acne, breakouts, adult acne, adult breakouts, apple cider vinegar, diy skincareBreakouts happen because dirt, grime, and bacteria have found a way into our pores below the outer layer of skin. Breakouts can be caused by genetics, dirty makeup brushes, environmental factors, or even something as simple as touching your face a lot throughout the day.

ACV naturally carries antimicrobial properties which means it helps destroy bacteria and germs in your skin on contact. Not only can regular use of ACV on your skin help keep bacteria at bay and pores clean, but it also helps tighten larger pores to keep excess dirt out in the future.

Skin Tone

skin tone, dark spots, pigmentation skin, apple cider vinegar, diy skincareWinter is sure to have your skin looking more dull than usual so why not reach for the ACV to help your skin tone and brighten your beautiful face! Nothing can make you look older than dark spots and uneven pigmentation so this easy to use toner is a great choice if you want to look your best.

The acids in ACV work to brighten your complexion, leaving your skin with a golden glow. Because it works to balance your skins pH level at the same time, it’s helping control your oil production, breakouts and had even been proven to lighten dark spots for skin that looks so great, you could skip foundation!

You and your skin should never underestimate the power of mother nature. Throughout history, some of the most effective ingredients have come from nature herself, from rosehip oil to aloe vera and even elderflower.

These days, we’ve got a new secret weapon for great skin and it’s been hiding in your kitchen all along…Honey! We’re going to share with you why this is such a great ingredient for your skin as well as one of our favorite ways to regenerate moisture in our skin with an easy honey mask!

Not all honey can benefit your skin the same. Dermatologists suggest using a special kind of honey called Manuka honey which comes from New Zealand because of its high anti-oxidant properties. Because it comes with a steeper price point than regular honey, you can also substitute it for raw, organic honey from your grocery store.

It Can Help Fade Scars

It can be from accidents of the past or something harder to manage like adult acne. These marks and scars from these conditions can be embarrassing and make you feel insecure but honey is here to save the day!

Because of its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, honey has been proven to heal wounds and scars very quickly. It helps prevent infections to open wounds and for scars, it has the ability to heal the scar to a point where it’s not noticeable to the naked eye.

It’s An Amazing Moisturizer

Honey is packed with soothing and moisturizing properties that can leave skin looking healthy, nourished and fabulous! When you apply honey to your face, the sugar that is naturally in it helps your skin to reduce dryness and keep your skin hydrated.
