This easy to make mask can reduce redness and help inflamed, puffy skin settle down. If you have dry skin and need a bit of extra moisture, try adding a bit of honey for hydrated and supple skin.

Empty ground coffee and cacao into a bowl, and add sugar, vanilla, and sweet almond oil. Mix thoroughly, until it reaches a consistency like damp sand. Wash face as usual. Then use a couple teaspoons of scrub at a time, testing a small area of your face or neck before applying all over.

Peach Facial Scrub

peach skincare, peach face scrub, natural diy skincare, diy skincare, diy face maskThis face scrub isn’t just going to revitalize your skin, it smells and feels absolutely amazing on your face! Of all the fruits you can use in skincare, peaches are one of the most powerful thanks to the fact that they contain alpha-hydroxy acids which gently exfoliate your face. It will help clear out dead skin cells but it will also help turn over the cells in your face, leaving you looking years younger.

All you’ll need for this easy DIY is some peaches, a splash of honey and some brown sugar. We also suggest mixing in a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil to help sooth the face and leave it glowing all day long!

Sugar and Salt Scrubs

diy face scrub, face scrub, homemade skincare, sugar scrub, salt scrubThis scrub is special because it won’t only help your face but can pull double duty as a body exfoliant too. Most sugar and salt scrubs are super easy to make and can be the perfect base if you’re feeling adventurous and want to test out your own recipes. Salt and sugar scrubs will be one of the easiest and more effective ways to remove dead skin, help get the blood flowing to the surface, and smooth away any roughness.

One of our favorite DIY scrubs with sugar or salt is to mix it with a few drops of lemon juice, which will help clarify the skin, and then add some honey which will nourish and brighten the skin while the sugar and salt get to work exfoliating.

Here’s How You Can Re-Purpose Your Empty Skin Care Bottles

empties, skincare empties, repurpose skincare products, diy skincare, diy skincare bottles

Skincare brands have a knack for producing some of the most beautiful bottles and jars to house their products. When we finish our favorite cream or serum, we usually just chuck the empty packaging into the trash, causing lots and lots of waste.

Thanks to some fun research, we’ve come up with a few of the best ways to create less waste from your skincare routine and re-purpose your product containers!

Keep Them For Travel

skincare hacks, skincare tips, recycle skin care products, diy skincareOver the last 10 years, airports have become much stricter with the size and amount of liquid or gel you can carry on an airplane. The rule is that you can bring anything under 3.4 oz and enough 3.4 oz containers to fill a large clear ziplock bag.

If you find that any of your empties fall under 3.4 oz, set them aside with your travel items to re-fill before a big flight. Instead of throwing them in the trash, give them a good rinse and let them dry before putting in any new product you’d like to bring for travel. Even skin cream containers can be good to store hair products or makeup when traveling.

Make A Vase

diy skincare, skincare tips, recycle skin care, Most skincare packaging is so pretty, you’d be happy to see sitting out every day, but most also have easy to remove labels. If you find you’ve got leftover cleanser jars, give new life to them by turning them from trash into treasure and creating a beautiful flower vase.

Once your bottle has been cleaned and emptied, add a bit of room temperature water to it and add your flowers. You can also look for fun design DIY’s for the outside of the bottle on Pinterest or Google to match it to any decor you already have!

Save Them For Your Next DIY Skincare Project

skincare hacks, skincare tips, recycle skincare, skincare diy, diy skincareDIY skincare can be a super fun activity to do alone or even with the family! There are millions of search results online for make-at-home skincare and everyone can find one that works for them – with ingredients they already have! Most of these DIY’s are super easy and fun to make.

The whole point of DIY is to reduce, reuse and recycle so save your empties for your next skincare project! The empty bottles and containers from your skin care routine can serve as a new storage solution for your homemade creation! Just make sure to wash the containers well and mark the date you put the products in it so you know when they’ve soiled or gone bad!

You may remember chia from those adorable little terracotta pots that would grow you a lush, green animal pet, but recently chia has been making headlines as a tasty snack that is also health conscious.

Chia seeds have been around forever, dating as far back as the Aztecs and there are generally a few different kinds of chia seeds you can purchase in stores. Chia seeds are great in salads, baked goods or teas, and are high in calcium, fiber, and antioxidants making them ideal as skin food. Here’s why…

This Common Kitchen Ingredient Can Help Your Skin In Unexpected Ways

SKINCARE, ANTI-AGING, APPLE CIDER VINEGAR,

Imagine a common kitchen ingredient that can do wonders for your skin’s brightness, texture, and health. Now walk to your fridge, grab your Apple Cider Vinegar, and get to know it better because it just became your best skincare friend.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is so common, you can find it in most kitchens and almost any grocery store. It has tons of different uses but one of the most surprising might be how many different benefits it has for your skin!

Just dilute some ACV with water in a bowl and use a cotton pad to rub it on your face like a toner. Here are just a few of the skin-related problems that a homemade ACV toner can help you solve…

Wrinkles

apple cider vinegar, wrinkles, anti-aging, diy skincareAs we age our skin naturally loses it’s elasticity and wrinkles and sagging begin to form all over the face. ACV can be used in skin care as a toner, face wash, and even a spot treatment for problem areas.

ACV works to fight wrinkles by keeping the pH levels in your skin at the right levels and keeping your face hydrated. When skin is balanced and nourished, wrinkles appear less visible. It will also help tighten skin and pores, reducing how deep your wrinkles are.

Breakouts

acne, breakouts, adult acne, adult breakouts, apple cider vinegar, diy skincareBreakouts happen because dirt, grime, and bacteria have found a way into our pores below the outer layer of skin. Breakouts can be caused by genetics, dirty makeup brushes, environmental factors, or even something as simple as touching your face a lot throughout the day.

ACV naturally carries antimicrobial properties which means it helps destroy bacteria and germs in your skin on contact. Not only can regular use of ACV on your skin help keep bacteria at bay and pores clean, but it also helps tighten larger pores to keep excess dirt out in the future.

Skin Tone

skin tone, dark spots, pigmentation skin, apple cider vinegar, diy skincareWinter is sure to have your skin looking more dull than usual so why not reach for the ACV to help your skin tone and brighten your beautiful face! Nothing can make you look older than dark spots and uneven pigmentation so this easy to use toner is a great choice if you want to look your best.

The acids in ACV work to brighten your complexion, leaving your skin with a golden glow. Because it works to balance your skins pH level at the same time, it’s helping control your oil production, breakouts and had even been proven to lighten dark spots for skin that looks so great, you could skip foundation!

Can You Believe Tomato Is The New Secret To Amazing Skin?!

diy skincare, tomato, tomatoes, skincare, anti-aging

We’re always on the hunt for tips and tricks to help our skin look it’s best but we were so surprised when we stumbled upon a tip that Tomato is a secret weapon for skin, and it’s been hiding in our kitchens this whole time!

For this experiment we used fresh, grocery store bought tomatoes and cut them in quarters to rub on our faces. We have to say, the results were great but you for sure want to do this in the privacy of your own home. While it can be a messy and silly looking process, we noticed tons of benefits to our skin after applying it! Here are some of the best things we noticed from our “Tomato Facial”.

It’s A Natural Exfoliant

exfoliation, skincare, anti-aging, skincare foods, diyTomatoes tend to be high in sugar and enzymes, but that’s not a bad thing! When you rub the tomato on your face, the mix of enzymes and sugar gently exfoliates even the most sensitive skin to remove dead cells, dirt and impurities. To increase the effects of exfoliation, dip the park of the tomato you’re rubbing on your skin in sugar before applying it to your skin. The softness of the sugar in the tomato will work on almost every single skin type and provides fast results.

Exfoliating makes skin glow but often store-bought exfoliants are really harsh, even if you don’t suffer from sensitive skin. This is a perfect remedy to dull skin and it’s so gently, you can do it multiple times a week if you want to! The best part is that it is 100% completely natural.

It Can Reduce Dark Spots and Sun Damage

dark spots, sun damage, skincare, diy skincare, anti-agingThe only way to prevent further UV damage is to slather on SPF but what about the damage that starts showing up from years past once you get older? While you can dull the appearance of them with antioxidant skincare, Tomatoes have shown amazing power in reducing and even clearing sun damage.

Tomatoes contain a special ingredient called Lycopene. Lycopene helps the skin recover and repair both sun damage and free radical damage. It’s powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties will restore your skin to a youthful and glowing canvas and will diminish your dark spots and keep breakouts and clogged pores at bay.

It Helps Shrink Pores

tomatoes, skincare, diy skincare, anti-agingStop spending your hard earned money on primers and foundation to mask your larger pores. Tomatoes have a knack for shrinking pores almost instantly and all it takes it a few easy steps in the kitchen. Tomatoes work effectively on pores when applied as an astringent, similar to a toner and this is one of our favorites for having skin that looks so airbrushed, you can skip makeup that day!

Step 1: Mix one spoonful of tomato juice with 4-5 drops of lemon juice

Step 2: Apply gently to your entire face with your fingertips or use a cotton pad if needed

Step 3: Rinse with lukewarm water to shrink open pores

Step 4: ADMIRE!
